April 19 and 20. Well the Barrington group continued to work on Niki's and Henry's house. Lets see, in Henry's house, they painted two rooms, replaced two windows in the living room, fixed the wall holes on the back and front stairwells, build a banister on the front porch (first floor), and repaired the "stoop" in the front of the house. They also cleaned the front porch and grounds of the house. They also repaired the ceiling in the kitchen and bought Henry and Diane a new refrigerator.
This group hoped to paint more, but the remaing 6 rooms will have to be repainted at a later time by another group.
At Niki's house, they continued the work on the siding. About 80% of the house has been covered with new siding. Some of this was missing siding before the project started.
In the end at Niki's house, they repaired the flooring (sub floor), repaired a lot of termite damage, installed about 5 new windows including a new double door on the back of the second floor. The fixing of the siding included installation of OSB on the exterior of the house, covering by tyvex and then installation of siding wall boards.
The group from Compassionate Ministries also refoofed most of the roof including the flat portion on the front of the building. The roof replacement will be finished on Monday when they return.
At Lena's house, they completed the headers above the interior doors. They also went out this afternoon (Friday) and helped Royden install sheet rock on the ceiling of the interior rooms. It is hard to do this by yourself so they wanted to help Royden do something he needed help with.
Lena on Thursday night provided a crawfish boil for the team from Barrington and Niki and Lena's family.
This little project was quite expensive. We spent more money in this week of home rebuilding then ever before, over $14,000. This included two sizzer lifts, scaffolding, three dumps of a dump ben, siding, tyvex, roofing, and flooring. We do not quite know where it will come from. There is hope that that all three families can repay some or hopefully all of the supply costs.
But it was a great week for the Barrington people. Both Niki's and Henry's house were located close to the church so the travel time was minimized. Niki's house was so large that teams could be depoyed simultaneously on the floor, the roof, inside stud repair, exterior siding, etc. At Henry's house, the team could paint the house while others were working on the front porch.
All the crew worked all the time and even into the night on Tuesday night at Lena's. They got in a "groove" and began working well together in little teams. The sizzor lifts and scaffolding helped very much in getting to the heights needed to do the work.
The months of advance preparation in taking photos of the houses paid off by making the team well prepared for the work when they came. And all the material was present when they arrived so they could get right to work.
The only real problem was the large amount of money that was expended making all this possible.
We pray that God will provide.

More Progress at Niki's, Henry's, and Lena's
Tuesday, April 17, 2007. The Barrington Team are still divided into three teams, one to each of the sites shown above. Today, at Niki's, they finished putting OSB onto the outside of the house, continued repairing termite damaged studs in the interior, and fixing the floors.
At Henry's house, they finished fixing the four posts that are holding the front porch up on the second floor. They also finished put up sheet rock on the two stairwells. They also bought and installed a security door on Joyce's lower floor residence.
We got permission from Henry to put regular standard vinyl windows in Henry's house, purchased two and plan to put them in the Henry and Diane living room. This will be a test to see how long it takes and whether it will work. There are 22 of the same sized windows in Henry and Joyce's house. There are about 16 other non standard windows.
The Cleaning in preparation for painting is going on very well in Henry's residence. A blue color has been chosen.
The group bought Henry a refrigerator and put it up on the second floor.
At Lena's, four or five of the Barrington males insisted on helping Lena after hours. In the evening, they gave up going to hear Jazz so they could help Royston with the headers above the interior doors of his house. Royston agreed to the help, so he worked with the guys to complete all the headers in the house. A little more framing will be done before we can do electrical wiring and then sheet rock.
There was much trouble figuring out a way to get 16' long pieces of siding that is to go on the outside of Niki's house to the site. Lowe's would deliver but not before Thursday. Frank (Niki's husband) helped by getting his fathers trailer and we will use that to deliver the siding.
Carl (our electrician) has been contacted about the electrical wiring in Lena and Niki's houses.
